2009 Annual PEF Convention held in Niagara Falls, NY. Six
members were elected to attend: Jim Lyons, Steve Gally
Migdalia Rodriguez Martinez, Bob Jones, Ellen Larkins,
and Rich Amyot with John Suchy alternate.
7/14/09 John Suchy elected to Treasurer position, replacing
Steve Gally.
May 27-29, 2009 DOCS state-wide labor / management
meeting in Lake Placid.
May 12, 2009 Steward Council Meeting agreed to start
DOCS Main Office Health and Safety Committee.
May 6, 2009 PEF Council Leader Jim Lyons and CSEA
President Maureen Wolfe met with Dep. Comm. Gayle
Haponik and Director Dan Martuscello to discuss reduction in
force procedures. (camps)
May 6, 2009 Jim Lyons and Maureen Wolfe met with Asst.
Commissioners Medina and Williams, plus Director Steward
Kidder, to discuss parking at 800 North Pearl Street.
April 27, 2009 Steward Council Meeting passed 2009-2010
annual budget.
March 31, 2009 Annual Membership Dinner was
overwhelming success. More than 60 members met at
Orchard Tavern to hear news about contract give-backs from
Bill Wurster, the new Region 8 Coordinator. $500
scholarships were awarded to Katie Lyons, daughter of Jim
Lyons, and to Joseph Chapman, so of Bill Chapman.
Older News 6/10/08 Two new stewards were elected - Bob Jones and John Suchy. Both men work in Building 2; Bob in Inmate Grievance and John in Special Operations. 4/21/08 New steward elections will be held to replace the two vacant positions. 2/20/08 Update: Andrew Lind transferred to another agency and resigned from the position of DOCS Division 229 union representative. June/2007 Update: Rick Hart transferred to another agency and resigned from the position of DOCS Division 229 union representative. The nomination process for steward positions was held in May 2007 for six at-large positions. Incumbents Rich Amyot, Migdalia Rodriguez, Steve Gally, and Jim Lyons submitted petitions, as well as Richard Hart and Andrew Lind. Only six individuals submitted petitions for the six positions, therefore all petitioners become union representatives and there will not be a general election .
